Top striker Le Cong Vinh, who joined Portugals’ Leixoes on a four-month contract last month, will be hoping to be among the starting line-up for the club’s next Super Liga game against Porto next weekend.

Vinh, who was given jersey No 29 by the chairman of the club in August, has scored two goals in two friendly games since he arrived in Portugal on August 22.

“I’ve gradually acquainted myself with the club here. I’ll concentrate on training hard to get a place in the team for the Portuguese premier football championship,” Vinh said.

Coach Jose Mota did not pick Vinh for the game against Rio Ave last weekend.

The central Nghe An province-born player was also substituted for a friendly against Paivense on Sept. 6.

Vinh, 24, of T&T Hanoi, will leave the club on December 31.

Leixoes were coached by the current Vietnamese national coach Henrique Calisto in 1990-91 and 93-94.

Last year, Vinh moved from Song Lam Nghe An to T&T Hanoi for a record four-year transfer fee of 400,000 USD./.
