Leaders around the world have extended their congratulations to Vietnam on the occasion of its 68th National Day (September 2).

Among those were General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Zhang Dejiang and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

From Laos , General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President Chummaly Sayasone, Prime Minister Thoongsinh Thammavong and National Assembly Chairwoman Pani Yathotou sent their congratulations to their Vietnamese counterparts.

Greetings also came from Cambodia’s Acting Head of State Chea Sim, Prime Minister Hun Sen, Acting President of the Senate Say Chhum and National Assembly President Heng Samrin; and Raul Castro Ruz, who is the First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party Central Committee and President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba.

The list of the congratulators also included Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Chairwoman of the Federation Council (Upper House) of Russia’s Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly Kim Yong Nam and Prime Minister Pak Pong Ju of the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea (DPRK), and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, President Thein Sein and Vice Presidents Sai Mauk Kham and Nyan Tun of Myanmar , Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and King Bhumibol Adjulyadej and Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand also took the occasion to extend their congratulations to Vietnam .
