The committee on drafting amendments to the 1992 Constitution headed by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung held a meeting with key Hanoi leaders on February 27.

Reports presented by the capital city’s representatives at the meeting showed that the draft received strong support from all walks of life.

Many opinions focused on the draft’s charters, clauses and norms relating to a series of issues, including land ownership, the structure of local authorities’ apparatus, people’s councils, and political and social organisations.

Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi confirmed that the municipal authorities and people considered the collecting of people’s opinions on the draft a special political and legal activity. The city will continue the activity with high determination, he stressed.

Addressing the meeting, Hung said that collecting people’s opinions on the draft is significant national work. It helps people exercise their right to direct the country’s works, Hung noted.

Best conditions must be created to collect opinions, he added.-VNA
