Construction work on new National Assembly (NA) House started in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district on October 12 in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The new NA Hall at a total investment of almost 4.8 trillion VND (263 million USD) is being built on the site of the old Ba Dinh Conference Hall.

It is designed to be a place to organise meetings of NA and its Standing Committee, to mark the country’s important historical events, and to welcome high-ranking foreign officials.

The new building will also house offices of NA leaders and Standing Committees of 9 NA commissions. There will also be a press centre.

The German partnership - GMP International GmbH-Inros Lackner AG has provided investment and designing consultancy service for the project.

It is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2012./.
