A ceremony was held in Vinh Long province on January 30 to mark the start of a construction project funded by the Republic of Korea’s organisation - Asia Cultural Exchange Foundation (ACEF) that will create homes for people on low incomes in the Mekong delta.

It is part of the Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) Friendship Village project in the southern provinces of Vinh Long, Tra Vinh and Tien Giang, with a total investment of 109,500 USD committed and mobilised by Kim Ki Young, Director of the ACEF Cultural Centre in Ho Chi Minh City .

Representatives from Unions of Friendship Organisations in the southern provinces and the ACEF, as well as RoK Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City Sin Ju Wha and other donors attended the event in Vung Liem town.

The project aims to improve living conditions for people on low incomes, and is expected conclude in three months.

Under the project, 73 houses, worth 1,500 USD each, will be built, of which 41 in Vinh Long, 17 in Tra Vinh and 15 in Tien Giang.-VNA
