Contactless payment services available at Petrolimex stations nationwide

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam National Petroleum Group(Petrolimex) cooperated with the global digital payment company Visa to launchcontactless payment services at the former’s petrol stations across the countryon May 31.

This payment form optimises experience of customers whonow can make it simply by tapping their cards, said Dang Tuyet Dung,Visa Country Director for Vietnam and Laos.

The solution helps ease pressure on the petrol stations’staff, speed up the process and ensure security for users and transactions,she highlighted, adding that the partnership will bringbetter quality of life for Vietnamese people.

Under the partnership, Petrolimex will deploy advancedPoint-of-Sale (POS) devices across its network of retail petrol stationsnationwide, where consumers can pay using Visa’s contactless-enabled cards.

Petrolimex began accepting payments via Visa cards lastyear.

The launch of the new service forms part of thestrategies to make Petrolimex a leader in digital transformation, Deputy CEO LuuVan Tuyen said, adding POS devices have been installed at all automated stations ofthe State-run corporation.

According to a Visa study in 2021, contactless payment isbecoming increasingly prevalent with nearly 46 percent of users opting for thismethod. One-third of Vietnamese users said they plan to use contactless paymentfor future purchase of petrol./.
