More than 30 experts from 22 countries in the Asia-Pacific are gathering in Ho Chi Minh City for a three-day regional seminar on developing national copyright strategy and policy.
The September 10-12 event is an opportunity for experts and heads of copyright agencies in the region to share experiences in building and completing national strategies and policies on copyright and related rights, and put forth solutions to prevent violations.
Delegates will focus on the development of international legal system on copyright and related rights and the copyright legal system in Vietnam as well as the current trend and challenges in the field.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan emphasised the need to protect copyright in the integration, which, he said, not only promotes creativeness, ensures authors’ legitimate rights and interests, creates a healthy and fair environment for competition, but also contributes to the global knowledge integration.
Copyright and related rights also contribute to socio-cultural and economic development of a nation, he said, adding that the orientation and target of copyright and related rights protection in Vietnam have been clearly defined in the country’s cultural development strategy until 2020.-VNA
