Malaysia is coordinating with regional countries in searching for a missing Malaysia Airlines plane and preparing rescue work.

The plane took off from Malaysia ’s capital Kuala Lumpur and was scheduled to land in Beijing , China at 6:30 on March 8 (local time).

Malaysia Airlines General Director Ahmad Jauhari Yahya told a press conference on March 8 that the Boeing 777-200 lost contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control at 02:40 (local time) on March 8.

It was reported that at least 14 nationalities were among the 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board the missing plane.

At present, Vietnam is joining Malaysia , China , the Philippines and Singapore in search and rescue efforts for the missing aircraft.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein affirmed there are no signs of a plane crash, adding that local authorities are doing their utmost to locate the missing plane and waiting for exact information from the Malaysian army as well as from the Vietnamese side.-VNA
