The court of appeal at Hanoi Supreme People's Court on May 30 confirmed the sentences handed out to two anti-government indictees, Ho Thi Bich Khuong from Nghe An Province and Nguyen Trung Ton from Thanh Hoa Province .

In December 2011, Nghe An People's Court sentenced Khuong to five years in prison and three years under house arrest and Ton to two years in prison and two years under house arrest, for circulating propaganda against the Party and the Government.

The court decided that the case was carried according to the law and that the evidence, including many articles written by Khuong and Ton which were circulated on the Internet, was enough to merit prison sentences.

According to the charges, on January 15, 2011, the police in central Nghe An province seized 68 types of documents containing anti-State content at Khuong’s house in Nam Anh commune in Nam Dan district.

Two days later, while examining Ton’s house in Quang Yen commune, Quang Xuong district the police seized another 10 documents containing anti-State contents.

On January 22, 2011, the Nghe An police started legal proceeding against Khuong and Ton on the charge of “distributing propaganda against the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam”.-VNA
