The People’s Court of central Nghe An province on August 28 sentenced two members of a transnational drug trafficking ring to death.
They are Nguyen Trong Tuan, 42, and Xong No Cha, 34.
Three other members of the ring -- Pham Thi Lieu, 42, Tran Van Tu, 31, and Nhua Xong, 24, a Laotian -- received life imprisonment.
According to the indictment, between October and December, 2012, these people smuggled 208 cakes of heroin weighing 72.8 kg and 321 methamphetamine pills from Laos to Vietnam. The drugs were then sold in China and other countries.
Another member of the ring - Ha No Chua with Lao nationality, who sold heroin to Vietnamese dealers, is wanted by Interpol for further investigation.-VNA
