Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia reported 207 new COVID-19-related deaths on July 26, the highest number since the pandemic broke out in the country.

In the past 24 hours, Malaysia recorded 14,516 new infections, down more than 2,500 cases compared to the previous day, raising the national count to nearly 1.03 million, including 8,201 deaths.

Also on July 26, for the first time, the number of COVID-19 patients need intensive care in the Southeast Asian country exceeded 1,000, including 524 requiring oxygen support.

Malaysia is suffering the third wave of COVID-19 which started from September 2020. Since April this year, the number of new cases rose from four digits to five digits. The daily count in the recent 14 consecutive days surpassed 10,000, while the number of deaths also increased from two digits to three digits./.
