Phnom Penh (VNA) - The Khmer - Vietnam Association (KVA) in Cambodia on April 16 handed over 100 relief packages comprising rice, face masks and cash to Vietnamese-Cambodian families affected by COVID-19 in Kadal province.

This forms part of an ongoing support programme initiated by the KVA together with the Vietnam Business Club in Cambodia, the Vietnamese Embassy, and philanthropic individuals and organisations in Vietnam.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Sa Ang district, Association Chairman Sim Chy reminded Vietnamese-Cambodians living in the area to strictly follow disease prevention regulations from Cambodia’s Ministry of Health, in particular avoiding public gatherings and practicing personal hygiene measures.

Hundreds more relief packages within the programme will be presented to Vietnamese-Cambodian families facing difficulties due to the pandemic in Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, and Takeo on April 17 and 18.

The programme will donate a total of 23.25 tonnes of rice, 23,000 cloth face masks, and over 19,000 USD to some 1,930 Vietnamese-Cambodian households in 25 cities and provinces in Cambodia and present medical supplies to Cambodian localities./.
