Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam recorded 13,889 cases of COVID-19, including 16 imported ones, during 24 hours from 4pm December 28 to 4pm December 29, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi recorded the highest number of infections with 1,766, followed by Tay Ninh with 938 and Vinh Long with 917.

The national tally reached 1,694,874.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 7,273 patients nationwide are in serious conditions, with 841 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support (ECMO).

On the day, the country saw 245 deaths from the disease. The death toll now hits 31,877, equal to 1.9 percent of the total caseload.

A total 38,260 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 1302,542.

By December 28, the country had injected over 148.19 million doses of vaccines to date, with more than 67.32 million people now fully inoculated, while over 3.51 million third shots, either booster shots or the third shot of Abdala vaccine have been administered./.
