CPV General Secretary meets with Pheu Thai Party leader

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong on June 25 met with leader of the ruling Pheu Thai Party (PTP) Jarupong Ruangsuwan after arriving in Bangkok.

The meeting took place prior to the official welcome ceremony held for General Secretary Trong, who is paying an official visit to Thailand at the invitation of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The TPP leader briefed the CPV General Secretary on the history and development of his party as well as its role in Thailand’s development.

He said he believed that under the leadership of the CPV, the Vietnamese people will continue gaining more considerable achievements in the country’s renewal, modernisation and industrialization process.

General Secretary Trong expressed his delight with Thailand’s positive developments in the past years, including important contributions made by the PTP.

He confirmed the CPV’s policy of developing and expanding relations with regional and international political parties on the basis of ensuring national interests, independence and self-reliance for peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The two party leaders agreed to exchange delegations of all levels between the TPT and CPV, as well as share experiences in national leadership and management.

The same day, General Secretary Trong visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand and talked with the Vietnamese community in the country.

The CPV leader said he hopes that the Vietnamese community in Thailand, including the embassy’s staff, overseas Vietnamese and students will continue contributing to developing the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.-VNA
