The 2012 Vietnam Craft Village Fair opened in the northern province of Nam Dinh on September 25 as part of efforts to preserve the nation’s cultural identities and promote their value.

Jointly organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Nam Dinh People’s Committee, the fair expects to boost trade and tourism while honouring craft villages and their products and craftsmen.

Craft items made by trade villages in almost 40 cities and provinces nationwide are being showcased in more than 300 booths at the fair.

During the framework of the event, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will liaise with Nam Dinh province to hold a workshop to promote the development of craft villages and tourism.
