A Cuban senior diplomat expressed his admire at the achievements Vietnamese people have made over the past years and said Cuba should take Vietnam ’s experiences into account in the building of a socialist economic model for the country in the coming period.

At a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh in Havana on May 31, Jorge Marti, Head of the Cuban Communist Party Foreign Relations Commission, affirmed Cubans’ determination to strengthen and further develop the friendship, solidarity and cooperation with Vietnam .

For his part, Anh spoke highly of achievements Cuban people have made despite the US ’s embargo during the past 50 years and expressed his belief that Cuba would overcome all difficulties and challenges to obtain greater achievements in its cause to build socialism in the country.

He said Vietnam resolves to promote ties with Cuba .

Same day, Anh had talks with Minister of Culture Abel Prieto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez and President of the Cuba Institute of Sports Julio Cristian Jiménez.

At the talks, the two sides agreed to beef up the bilateral ties, especially in the field of culture, sports and tourism.

During his visit to Cuba from May 28-June 2, Minister Anh attended the opening ceremony of the Week of Vietnamese Culture in Havana . The event is part of activities celebrating the 50 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (December 2, 1960)./.
