Cuba is a potential market for Vietnamese IT and telecom products, Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop told Fernando Remirez, Secretary and Chairman of the External Relations Commission of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Central Committee.

At a working session with Fernando Remirez in Havana on Feb. 12, Minister Hop informed the Cuban Party official of the results of his working visit.

Minister Hop praised Cuba’s achievements over the recent year, especially its increasing role and position in the region and the world.

For his part, Remirez thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their assistance to Cuba in difficult periods and expressed his hope to further boost the two countries’ traditional friendship, unity and cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on the global economic crisis’s impacts on their economies and reiterated their determination to further promote the bilateral cooperation, particularly in information and communications.

After the session, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Centre for International Press and Communication Cooperation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications and the Mundo Latino Film Studio of the CPC Central Committee to produce two documentary films about the two countries’ relations and the Vietnam war, which will be released on the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties in 2010.

The same day, Minister Hop attended the opening ceremony of the Cuba International Book Fair 2009 in Havana./.
