The relationship between Vietnam and Cuba has been developed beyond conventional protocol with profound sentiments of the two countries and peoples.

Visiting Homero Acosta Alvares, Secretary of the Cuban Council of State said on October 18 during a reception given by Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan.

Homero expressed his impression on Vietnam’s as well as the city’s gigantic development for the last years. He said Cuba is shifting its economic model; therefore it is necessary for his delegation to learn Vietnam’s experiences in economic development, especially the country’s renewal process since 1986.

For his part, the municipal Chairman Quan said Vietnam and Cuba have had many high-ranking exchanges, along with meaningful activities marking President Fidel Castro’s visit to the liberated zone in southern Vietnam 40 years ago.

Quan asserted the city has also played part in nurturing the special friendship and improving mutual understanding between the two countries and peoples, while expressing belief that Cuba will overcome difficulties and grow further.

Earlier, the Cuban delegation met with Huynh Thanh Lap, head of Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly deputies’ delegation.-VNA
