Cuban revolution celebrated in Vietnam

Phu Tho province and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on Dec. 29 jointly held a ceremony to mark the 52nd anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution.
The People’s Committee of Phu Tho northern province and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on December 29 jointly held a ceremony to mark the 52nd anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution (Jan. 1, 1959-2011).

Attending the ceremony were Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Fredesman Turro Gonzalez, VUFO General Secretary Do Ba Khoa and Vice President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association Nguyen Duy Cuong.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Phu Tho People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Hai spoke highly of the January 1, 1959 event, saying that it was a glorious milestone in the world revolutionary history.

Under the leadership of Fidel Castro, the Cuban people united to overthrow the dictatorial Batista regime, opening up a new chapter for Cuba , a country of independence, freedom and social progress, he said.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese people never forget Cuba’s valuable solidarity and support for Vietnam during the struggle for national independence in the past as well as the current national development.

For his part, Cuban Ambassador Fredesman Turro Gonzalez stressed that the friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam is everlasting as the two nations are striving for a common ideal and a common goal and making efforts for a more just and equal world.

The ambassador expressed his wish that Vietnam will successfully organise the XIth National Party Congress and the National Assembly election in 2011.

On the same day, Ambassador Fredesman Turro Gonzalez offered incenses at the Hung Kings Temple./.
