Similarities in the cultural traditions and development goals between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea can further strengthen their strategic partnership, it was said at the fourth Vietnam Tourism-Culture Festival in the RoK.

The festival is underway in Seoul from July 2, with traditional artistic performances from both countries.

The five-day festival has been co-organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK.

The event offers a fantastic chance for Vietnam to introduce its cultural identity to RoK citizens and international friends, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Tran Trong Toan who was present at the opening ceremony.

It also helps the two sides strengthen mutual understanding and trust and expand cooperation for peace, stability and prosperity in each country, stated Toan.

Le Anh Thu, a Vietnamese woman who has lived in the RoK for nearly 20 years, was touched by the performances. She said that they made her feel close to her fatherland and prouder of the beauty of Vietnam’s cultural tradition.

The festival, taking place in the cities of Seoul and Daegu, is including a wide range of activities such as artistic programmes, tourism seminars, a photo exhibition featuring Vietnam’s land and people, handicraft fairs and a cuisine fair.-VNA
