Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam did not suffer from any cyber attacks that caused extensive impact or serious problems during the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

From January 23 to 27, the ministry’s Authority of Information Security recorded 169 attacks on the information systems in the country, down 3 percent from the Tet holiday last year. They included 31 defacement, 64 phishing and 74 malware attacks.

To meet the surged demand for high-speed internet access during the most important annual festival, telecom service providers increased the bandwidth for internet traffic from Vietnam to the world, improved the configuration of 2G, 3G and 4G base stations, and added vehicles serving as base transceiver stations at crowded places.

Therefore, during Tet, especially the Lunar New Year’s Eve on January 24, the internet connection stayed smooth and network congestion did not occur, the ministry noted./.
