Vietnamese athletes will participate in the Asian Cycling Championships which kicks off in Malaysia on Feb. 8.

Mai Nguyen Hung and Ho Van Phuc will compete in the men's professional category while Nguyen Thi That and Nguyen Pham Ngoc Trinh will race in the women's event.

The quartet represents the best of Vietnamese cyclists, but their chances of success are unsure. In Kuala Lumpur, they will compete against powerful rivals from China, Japan and Kazakhstan.

Vietnam will also send young riders to take part in the Asian Junior Cycling Championships which coincide with the senior competition, and among them, Trinh Duc Tam, Ho Huynh Van An and Nguyen Luu Thanh Nhan are expected to bring home glory.

To prepare for the tournament, athletes have been training since the beginning of the year in HCM City. They will leave for Malaysia on February 12, two days before their focus, the road race events, start. /.
