Da Nang acts during humanitarian month

Da Nang (VNA) - The central city of Da Nang is carrying out a number of activities in response to humanitarian month, which runs until the end of May.
The city’s Red Cross Society presented 58 scholarships worth 3 million
VND (128.5 USD) each to needy children on May 8.
The programme has been carried out since 2006 with sponsorship from the
Swedish organisation Children Above All - Adoptions.
On the same day the Red Cross coordinated with a young entrepreneurs
club to start building a house for Nguyen Van Duc - a poor disabled local man in
Nam Yen hamlet, Hoa Bac commune. The house is expected to be completed in July
this year.
Vice President of the society Thai Thi Ha said such activities are all part
of activities during humanitarian month.
The society aims to support 2,000 needy people in the time to come while
presenting 80 scholarships worth 300 million VND to poor students, calling for
blood donations, and offering free medical check-ups to 200 underprivileged
people.
It will also continue organising COVID-19 prevention activities./.
