Da Nang gets help in urban transport planning
The Temasek Foundation of Singapore
and the World Bank (WB) will fund a programme on enhancing traffic
management capacity and transport planning for the central city of Da
Nang .
An agreement to this effect was signed in
Da Nang on July 26 between the Da Nang People’s Committee and the
Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), a representative of Temasek.
Through the programme, Singapore desires to share
its experience in management and urban transport planning and help the
Vietnamese central city develop a modern and sustainable urban transport
system.
Accordingly, Temasek will provide 915,158
SGD (roughly 15.47 billion VND) while Da Nang city will contribute
239,080 SGD (4.04 billion VND).
The programme will
be divided into two components, one of which, to take place from
September, 2011 to June, 2012, will focus on urban transport planning
for Da Nang .
In the second component, to be
implemented between now and December this year, the Singaporean group
and the Da Nang People’s Committee will work together to organise six
training courses on the planning and management of urban transport for
members of relevant departments, branches and agencies of Da Nang. /.
