Policymakers, scientists and Da Nang city authorities got together at a workshop on July 12 to discuss measures to increase Da Nang’s position in ASEAN and Asia.

Participants proposed a number of solutions to develop Da Nang as an economic hub in the central and Central Highlands regions where has an ideal living environment that can be comparable to other big cities in ASEAN and Asia.

They suggested the municipal authorities prioritise high-quality services such as tourism, trade, banking and finance, education and healthcare, along with promoting the application of information technology and developing economic activities that are environmentally friendly.

They also called on investors to make more contributions to sustainable urban development.

Da Nang is famous for its many interesting places, namely Ba Na Tourist Resort, Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains), Linh Ung pagoda, Han River, and My An and Non Nuoc beaches.

In the first half of the year, Da Nang welcomed 400,000 foreign visitors, up 11.4 percent from the same period last year. The city also greeted 1.15 million domestic tourists, an increase of 18 percent.

According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city's tourism industry grossed over 3.6 trillion VND (172 million USD) in the first six months of this year, up 23.7 percent year-on-year.-VNA
