Da Nang on track to become intelligent city

The adoption and effective implementation of IT progress in administrative reform at commune and district levels in the central city of Da Nang have brought many positive changes in recent years, the Vietnam Investment Review reported.

One big challenge set for DaNang authority is to integrate the current infrastructure anddiversified IT platform into a unified entity, paving the way for thedevelopment of a modern administration platform, where people enjoypublic services quickly and efficiently.

This is an essentialstep in implementing the vision of Da Nang authority in bringing thecity into an intelligent and worth-to-live place.

Da Nang city’sdata center is considered the ‘brain’ for the whole IT system, thetechnical infrastructure to spur e-government deployment. The city hassucceeded in developing a modern, powerful and effective cloud datacenter by leveraging Microsoft’s open platform.

“With data centersystem deployed on Microsoft cloud platform, we are able to integrateseamlessly with open source solutions. The system becomes more diverse,being able to service a wider range of customers with many differentneeds,” Deputy Director of Da Nang city’s Department of Information andCommunications Nguyen Quang Thanh was quoted as saying.

Microsoftproducts enabled Da Nang’s data center transform from a traditionalphysical model to a cloud model in which all IT resources are packed upinto services and upload to the portal of the Da Nang Department ofInformation and Communications.

“Flexibility and high-speed ofinformation processing and analysis, and timely report procedures ofMicrosoft open platform solutions enable the city leaders to respondquickly to opportunities and challenges, bringing a better life for itscitizens. This is a steppingstone, taking Da Nang one step closer to be amodern and intelligent city,” General Director of Microsoft Vietnam VuMinh Tri was cited as saying.

Microsoft has currently introducedand consulted the CityNext solutions to Da Nang authorities. This is aglobal initiative to empower municipalities, businesses and citizens tobuild and develop more dynamic future communities.

With greatstrides in improving quality of public services, Da Nang would be thefirst location to reach the finishing line in the process of applying ITinto administrative reform, towards the model of dynamic andintelligent urban authorities.-VNA

Positive progress recorded in tackling intellectual property rights infringements

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tam, Chair of the Department of Computer Science, Data and Artificial Intelligence at IP Paris, said the Political Bureau’s Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW, which elevates overseas Vietnamese to one of the country's important strategic resources, should be translated into practical mechanisms for deeper participation of OVs in the country’s scientific and technological development, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).
