Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand saw a record daily number of deaths from COVID-19 with 98 on July 15, pushing the death toll since the pandemic began to 3,032.  

The same day, the country logged 9,186 new cases of COVID-19, raising the national tally to 372,215.

Most of the cases and deaths (343,352 cases and 1,938 deaths) occurred during the third wave of the pandemic that began at the beginning of April.

The country is raising alarm about a shortage of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients in severe conditions.

The same day, the Philippines reported 5,221 cases and 82 deaths, bringing the national total to 1,490,665 cases and 26,314 deaths.

The country is considering entry restrictions towards Malaysia and Thailand where infections of of the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 are rising fast.

Health Minister Francisco Duque said there have been no local infections of the Delta variant in the Philipppines./.
