Dak Lak builds houses for poor ethnic households

The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has invested nearly 22 billion VND (1 million USD) to build 513 houses for poor ethnic households.

Beneficiaries are mainly in Cu Mgar and Ea Kar districts and Buon Ma Thuot city.

Frombeginning of this year, apart from building houses for needy people,the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Dak Lak chapter worked with relevantagencies and organisations presented gifts to 2,000 poor households andpolicy beneficiaries, helped build nursery schools in border communesand granted scholarships and books for poor students.

It also implemented many other support activities to help poor households develop their production.

Dak Lak will continue to call on individuals and businesses tosupport the programme to build households for the poor and other socialwelfare programmes in 2014.-VNA

Memorial service held for 731 fallen soldiers in Ho Chi Minh City

From June 23 to October 5, Team K74 and other forces recovered 731 sets of martyrs’ remains from the park. Biological samples and DNA samples collected from relatives of unidentified fallen soldiers are being analysed and stored in the national gene bank to support identification efforts.

Saigon River pedestrian bridge set to be joined on October 21

The assembly comprises a main bridge structure weighing about 1,400 tonnes and a specialised steel supporting frame weighing around 2,000 tonnes. During testing, about 30 self-propelled modular transporters were used to lift the assembly 40cm off the ground for technical inspections. Sensors and monitoring equipment recorded key parameters.
