Dak Lak (VNA) – The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has employed various measures to improve the quality of Ede ethnic language teaching in schools.

Since 2011, the province has held regular training courses for teachers of the Ede language who now lecture in 118 schools with over 13,340 students across the locality.

Most teachers had previously not received any intensive training.

Dak Lak is also working with competent agencies to study, compile and adjust Ede language textbooks and documents to meet the teaching and learning requirements of the ethnic language.

Presently, the locality has six Ede language book titles that have been ratified and published by the Ministry of Education and Training.

However, the provincial People’s Committee said teaching the Ede language still faces many challenges such as the shortage of trained teachers and textbooks for secondary students.

To deal with this, the locality has asked relevant ministries and agencies to issue more Ede language textbooks for secondary schools, and for colleges and universities in the province to train more teachers in the language.-VNA
