Danish ambassador to Vietnam Peter Lysholt Hansen on July 16 inspected the results of the usage of his country’s donations for state management and agriculture and rural development assistance programmes in the northern, mountainous province of Lao Cai.

The donations, worth 91.1 billion VND, have been provided to Vietnam since 2007.

At a working session with provincial officials, the two sides discussed an administrative reform and state management programme for the 2007-2011 period and an agriculture and rural development assistance programme for the 2007-2012 period in the province which are funded by the Danish government.

These programmes, which will be carried out in three poor districts in the province--Si Ma Cai, Bac Ha and Muong Khuong--focus on encouraging agricultural expansion, assisting production activities, marketing and providing personnel training for local officials.

Ambassador Hansen spoke highly of Lao Cai province’s efforts in launching the programmes./.
