Danish businesses have showed eagerness to cooperate with Vietnamese partners in their advantaged, such as wind and renewable energy and clean technologies, attributing this to improvements in investment climate in the country.

This was reflected at a seminar on Vietnam-Denmark economic, investment and trade cooperation hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark on May 11.

The event drew the participation of 50 big Danish companies and groups, importers and exporters, with many of whom have established long-term partnership with Vietnamese businesses in marine shipping, cement production, wind power, clean technologies and environmental management.

Many of the participating businesses also showed interest in helping Vietnam save fuel, protect the environment, respond to climate change, and sharing managerial skills in these areas.

Ambassador Vu Van Luu briefed the participants on Vietnam’s socio-economic performance in 2009, and the Vietnamese government’s policies and plans to fulfill socio-economic tasks of 2010 as well as the 2006-2010 plan.

He updated the participants with new developments in the two countries’ friendship and multi-dimensional cooperation, referring to the agreements made during Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s Denmark visit and Queen Margrethe II’s Vietnam visit in 2009, particularly those involving trade, cooperation in wind energy, culture, education and training.

Ambassador Luu asserted the Vietnamese Government’s policies and efforts to unceasingly improve infrastructure, create a sound investment environment, and improve human resources to attract stable and long-term investment in Vietnam .

The ambassador also provided the Danish businesses with Vietnam’s economic statistics, prioritized investment fields, its export staples to Denmark, as well as schedules of major trade fairs and tech-marts in Vietnam this year./.
