Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh received Col. Patrick D. Reardon, the outgoing US Army Attaché and Col. Earnest C. Lee, who will take Reardon’s place, in Hanoi on July 2.
Vinh praised Reardon for his contributions to promoting defence cooperation between the two countries over his term of office in Vietnam .
He said he hopes Reardon, in the new position, will continue making new contributions to developing the Vietnam – US relations and bilateral defence ties in particular.
While giving respect to Lee, Vinh said he hopes Lee will uphold the achievements made by the two countries, as well as the two countries’ defence ties in recent times, with a view to deepening bilateral relations in an effective manner for mutual benefits.
Deputy Minister Vinh said the Vietnamese Defence Ministry is willing to create favourable conditions for Lee to fulfill his duties.
Earlier, Lieut. Gen. Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army also received Reardon and Lee.-VNA
