Hanoi (VNA) –
Minister of National Defence Ngo Xuan Lich hosted a reception for outgoing Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane in Hanoi on September 5.

He congratulated the Lao ambassador on successfully finishing his working tenure in Vietnam, adding that the cooperative relations between the two countries have continued thriving in recent years with defence partnership being an important pillar.

Based on the implementation of the annual cooperation protocols and plans, the bilateral defence ties have been further deepened in all fields from all-level delegation exchanges, Party building, political work, to security and order maintenance in border areas, and personnel training, Lich said.

He asked the Vietnamese and Lao defence ministries to strengthen coordination in the coming time to firmly safeguard political security in the respective countries as well as preserve the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

The Lao diplomat spoke highly of Vietnam’s development and role in the region and beyond. 

He described Vietnam as a source of motivation and importance assistance in the Laos’ development.

He pledged to do his utmost in any new position to continuously contribute to the reinforcement of the two countries’ traditional friendship and special solidarity.-VNA
