Vietnamese and Filipino naval forces should further cooperation in skills training, information sharing, and search-and-rescue drills, said Defence Minister Gen. Phung Quang Thanh.

Receiving a delegation of the Filipino Navy led by Vice Admiral Jose Luis M. Alano, in Hanoi on March 20, Thanh said the visit not only helps realise bilateral defence cooperation agreement, share mutual understanding and trust between the two armies, but propel ties between Vietnam and the Philippines also.
 
He suggested opening a hotline to share information of mutual interest.

Jose Alano thanked Vietnam for its past support in the wake of typhoon Haiyan.

The guest expressed his hope that the two armies will work closely together in various areas, especially the training of naval graduates./.
