Defence ministry takes care of war hero families, invalids

The Ministry of National Defense has undertaken a string of activities to support families of war heroes and contributors to the national revolutionary cause on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, which falls on July 27.

The ministry has spent 1.67billion VND (78,766 USD) visiting wounded and sick soldiers undertreatment at some nursing homes as well as many families of war invalidsand martyrs and Vietnamese heroic mothers in Hanoi and otherlocalities.

Besides, the ministry’s officials came to visit andpresent gifts to families of cadres and soldiers who laid down theirlives while protecting the country’s sovereignty over sea and islandsand serving in remote and mountainous areas.

The ministry hasdirected its units to collaborate with stakeholders to generate jobs foroffspring of seriously wounded and sick soldiers.

It has alsocontinued to realise a programme on building 1,000 houses for woundedsoldiers, heroic mothers and those who had rendered great services tothe national revolutionary cause.-VNA

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.
