The deputies of the 12 th National Assembly will discuss draft documents to be presented to the Party’s XIth National Congress and hear the Government’s report on Vinashin’s post-debt crisis performance at their eighth session slated to start on Oct. 20.

At a press briefing in Hanoi on October 18, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Office Dr. Nguyen Si Dung reported that the 32-day session will consist of 46 plenary meetings, 13 sessions to be televised live, and 16 group meetings.

Although this is the year-end session, the deputies will discuss and approve nine bills and one resolution.

They will hear and debate the Government’s report on the outcomes of the country’s socio-economic performance in 2010 and its socio-economic development plan in 2011.

The deputies will look at the execution of State budgetary estimates in 2010, budget estimates for 2011 as well as plans on budget allocation for central agencies and budget supplements for localities.

Also at this session, the deputies will listen to and discuss the Government’s presentation to summarise the implementation of the pilot programme of no longer organizing the People’s Council at ward, commune and district levels as prescribed in the 12 th National Assembly’s resolution./.
