Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, on July 23 hosted a reception for visiting director of the Defence Policy Office of the Singaporean Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General Chieng Siak Kian.

During the meeting in Hanoi, Brigadier General Chieng Siak Kian informed Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan of the outcomes of the working sessions between his delegation and the Vietnamese Defence Ministry’s agencies.

The two sides highly valued bilateral defence ties over the past time, affirming that the two countries’ developing cooperation in many fields has contributed to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

In the coming time, the two countries’ armed forces will continue to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels and organise exchanges between young military officers.

Singapore will help train Vietnamese military cadets and work with Vietnam in submarine rescue and maritime relief training, as well as share experiences in joining the United Nations Peacekeeping Force.-VNA
