Hanoi (VNA) - Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception in Hanoi on December 21 for Cambodia’s Ambassador to Vietnam Chay Navuth and defence attaché Col. Rem Kan, who recently took office in Vietnam.

Chien suggested that both sides regularly hold consultations, exchange information, and educate their officials and soldiers about the traditional friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two peoples and armies.

He asked them to work closely with border protection and management forces, maintain joint patrols at sea between naval forces, boost cooperation in personnel training, and step up the search for and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Cambodia.

Navuth, for his part, vowed to deepen partnerships, including defence ties, in a practical and effective manner for the benefit of the two peoples, contributing to realising the goals of the ASEAN Community and for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
