Hanoi (VNA) – Amnesty is a lenient and humane policy of the Party and State, demonstrating the noble tradition of humanity in the Vietnamese culture and also receiving attention and high appreciation from both domestic people and the international community, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet.

The Deputy FM, a member of the Advisory Council on Amnesty 2025, led an inter-sectoral delegation to inspect the amnesty preparation at the Phu Son 4 prison in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on April 15.

Representatives of the prison’s management board reported on the implementation of the amnesty work in 2025, including popularising the State President's Amnesty Decision No. 266/2025/QD-CTN, dated March 3, 2025, and the Advisory Council on Amnesty's guidance to prisoners. They noted that numerous good practices and valuable experiences have been applied to efficiently process a large number of records in a short period of time, thus meeting requirements and fulfilling assigned tasks.

Viet emphasised that amnesty is of particular importance in 2025 as it is carried out amid the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.

He commended the efforts made by the prison’s management board to effectively implement the amnesty work in accordance with regulations, ensuring the rights and legitimate interests of prisoners.

The official asked the prison to continue coordinating closely with the standing agency of the Advisory Council on Amnesty, relevant ministries and sectors, and local units to carry out the work in the coming time./.
