Hanoi (VNA)
– Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh received French Ambassador to Vietnam Bertrand Lortholary in Hanoi on February 18.

The host officer expressed his delight at the flourishing relations in all aspects between the two countries, which marked 45 years of their diplomatic ties and five years of the strategic partnership in 2018.

Within the relationship, defence cooperation has played an important role and been continually enhanced, especially between naval and air forces and in the defence industry, military medicine, and United Nations peacekeeping activities, Vinh noted.

For his part, Ambassador Lortholary said that in his position, he will make more efforts to help develop bilateral defence ties in 2019 and the following years.

He added that the first Vietnam-France strategic dialogue at the deputy defence ministerial level will be held this year, which will be critical to the implementation of the outcomes reached during the official visit to France by Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Ngo Xuan Lich in September 2018.–VNA
