Deputy PM inspects pandemic prevention and control in Tra Vinh, Can Tho

Tra Vinh (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam inspected COVID-19 prevention and control work in the southern province of Tra Vinh on September 18.

As of September 15, the province had basically put the pandemic under control and began resuming production.

Dam requested that when enterprises come back to normal operations, they must ensure “three green” criteria, including green factories, green accommodation and green workers.

He also directed Tra Vinh continue offering food supplies to its residents living in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province, and prioritise vaccinating workers returning from the two localities.

The Ministry of Information and Communications was assigned to soon consider licencing a new television channel to serve students’ online learning in the province.

As of September 17, seven districts and townships in the province returned to new normal.

The province recorded 1,480 infection cases as of September 18 afternoon, including 42 imported, 1,140 given all-clear from the virus and 20 deaths.

During a working session with Can Tho's Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Dam asked the city to focus on “red zones”, not ignore the “green zones”, and conduct regular PCR testing for residents.

The committee reported that from July 8 to September 17, the city logged 5,118 cases, including 2,123 in quarantine facilities, 2,820 in the community and 175 in locked-down areas. There were 4,217 recovered patients, or 82 percent of the total infections and 75 deaths, equivalent to 1.47 percent.

More than 306,000 vaccine doses have been given to local people.

In the past week, the city confirmed 367 new cases, including 108 local transmissions, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Viet Truong. He also suggested the Government and Ministry of Health soon allocate more vaccines to the city./.
