A Vietnamese government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan paid a working visit to Germany ’s Sachsen Anhalt and Hessen states from Jan. 23-26.
In Sachsen Anhalt, Deputy PM Nhan met with the State’s Governor, Wolfgang Boehmer, and Detlef Schubert, Secretary of State in charge of economic affairs, during which Nhan stressed the great potential for cooperation between Sachsen Anhalt and Vietnamese localities, especially in the fields of renewable energy, training and tourism.
He also visited the Otto Von Guericke University in Magdeburg city where he had studied and the solar cell company Malibu Osterweddingen, as well as met the Vietnamese community in the city.
In Hessen, the Vietnamese delegation had working sessions with the state’s Minister of Economics, Transport and Rural Development Dieter Posch and Minister of Science and Arts Eva Kuehne-Hoermann.
Deputy PM Nhan and Secretary of State of Hessen Nicola Beer co-chaired a press briefing to review activities during the “Vietnam Year in Germany 2010”, which aimed to mark the 35 th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Nhan spoke highly of the Hessen authorities’ active support and coordination in successfully organising events during the Vietnam Year in Hessen and affirmed that events that were held in the two countries in 2010 helped develop the bilateral relationship.
He expressed his wish that the Hessen authorities would continue support for Vietnam in education and training, especially exchanging experiences and giving advice on training programmes for the Vietnam-Germany University in Ho Chi Minh City./.
