Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh extended his best wishes to officers and soldiers of several departments under the Ministry of Public Security on January 30 during a visit ahead of the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

At the event, Binh spoke highly of the public security force’s achievements in recent times, especially in fighting criminals, ensuring security-order, traffic safety, and in preventing and controlling corruption and drugs.

The Deputy PM affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam continue to keep in mind the efforts and contributions of the public security force.

Binh asked the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department to suppress illegal drug smuggling rings and drug-making facilities, as well as enhance drug prevention activities and international cooperation in the field.

Meanwhile, he required the Criminal Police Department to efficiently tackle organised crime, new and non-traditional types of crime, and high-tech crime, among others.

The Deputy PM asked members of the department to ensure security and order during the upcoming Tet festival, improve the effectiveness of information processing, and accelerate investigation into complicated cases, particularly those involving corruption.

Meeting with traffic police officers, Binh ordered them to improve traffic patrol and a better handling of traffic safety violations. Mass testing on vehicles to detect drivers with high blood alcohol concentration, under the influence of drugs, or driving over the speed limit are needed to ensure compliance with traffic law, he noted.

The Traffic Police Department was also asked to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure the safety of passenger transportation ahead of, during, and after the Tet holidays, as well as do their utmost prevent major accidents.–VNA
