Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung received a delegation of China ’s Xinhua News Agency led by its permanent Deputy General Director Zhang Xiaohua in Hanoi on Jan. 14.
Deputy PM Hung welcomed the collaboration between the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Xinhua in organising photo exhibitions to mark the 60 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and China in Hanoi and Beijing and hoped the events will help boost the two countries’ friendship.
Hung took the occasion to highlight the two news agencies’ important role in the press system of each country.
Together with the fine development of the Vietnam-China relationship under the motto “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability and future oriented vision” and in the spirit of “good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners” reached between the two countries’ senior leaders, the two news agencies would continue their solidarity, cooperation and exchange of experiences on modern press, said the deputy PM.
The two news agencies will cover the celebrations of the 60 th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-China diplomatic relations, thus helping deepen bilateral comprehensive cooperation, he added.
Deputy General Director Zhang, who is in Vietnam for the opening of the photo exhibition in Hanoi , informed the host of new cooperation fields between Xinhua and VNA including monetary, financial and television information.
The photo exhibitions in Hanoi and Beijing are opportunities for the two national news agencies to share experiences, Zhang said.
Zhang took the occasion to affirm that Xinhua will work with VNA to provide timely and exact information on Vietnam ’s renewal process and China ’s open-door reform, thus promoting the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.
Earlier, on Jan. 13, VNA General Director Tran Mai Huong and Xinhua Deputy General Director Zhang discussed ways to expand bilateral ties.
General Director Huong highlighted Xinhua’s development and expressed his hope to learn more and share experiences with Xinhua in settling common challenges, including strengthening information competitiveness, developing new information, applying new technology in forms of information organising work, increasing economic information and improving services’ quality.
The VNA leader said that the two State news agencies will cooperate to promote the two countries’ friendship.
The joint organisation of the photo exhibitions is a vivid symbol of new cooperation spirit, he said.
Sharing the same view with his host of the two news agencies’ challenges in the new period, Zhang emphasised that Xinhua is ready to share its experiences with VNA to achieve new successes to conform with the news development trend in the world.
He also confirmed that the two news agencies’ images and information have made great contributions to the development of 60 years of the Vietnam-China relationship and will continue to contribute to promoting the fine relationship of Vietnam and China./.
