Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on June 21 cabled a message of sympathy to Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi over recent natural disasters causing human and property losses.

Earlier on June 19, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his sympathy to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

China’s southern localities were hit by downpours and floods while an earthquake struck the south western province of Sichuan on June 17.

Dozens of people have been killed and 356,000 had to evacuate from their homes as heavy rain and floods have swept through large parts of southern China, from Guangdong province in the southeast to southwest China’s Chongqing on the upper reaches of the Yangtze river.

Meanwhile, the quakes in Sichuan’s Yibin city have left 13 people dead, 199 others injured and more than 140,000 residents affected.-VNA
