Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh will attend the 2014 ASEAN-China Expo and the 11th ASEAN-China Business and Investment Summit, which are taking place in Nanning City, Guangxi province in China from September 14-16.
Minh’s participation in the event demonstrates the Vietnamese Government’s consistent policy of valuing the neighbourly relations and traditional friendship with China.
It is expected to promote the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially on trade and the economy, as well as bolster ASEAN-China links.
Guangxi province shares a border with the four northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam. The cooperation between Vietnam and the Chinese locality has developed strongly. Vietnam’s trade turnover with Guangxi totalled nearly 12.7 billion USD in 2013.
The annual expo, jointly held by China’s Ministry of Trade and the 10 ASEAN member countries, is considered one of the top ten Chinese exhibitions and is an important mechanism to promote friendship and trade links between ASEAN member states and China.
Approximately 2,500 Chinese and ASEAN firms are expected to showcase their products in 4,600 exhibition pavilions this year.
The ASEAN-China Business and Investment Summit, initiated in 2004, is an important annual high-level forum between ASEAN and China, with the objective of boosting their strategic partnership and accelerating the establishment of an ASEAN-China free trade area.-VNA
