Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem received George Christopphides, President of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations (WFUCA) and a member of the Cyprus Republic ’s parliament, in Hanoi on June 17.

Deputy PM Khiem highly valued the WFUCA’s close cooperation with the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations over the past time and said that the WFUCA’s selection of Vietnam as the host of its eighth congress in 2011 represents its trest in the country’s ability and organisation work.

Regarding the Vietnam-Cyprus relationship, Khiem said he was pleased with the developing friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He praised the great achievements that Cyprus has made over the past time.

Vietnam wishes to further develop the multi-faceted relations with Cyprus , especially in trade, labour and investment, he added.

For his part, the WFUCA president said he was impressed with Vietnam ’s successes in socio-economic development as well as its successful organisation of several major international events.

He expressed his belief that with its expertise and experiences, Vietnam will successfully host the 8th WFUCA Congress next year./.
