Talking with Cardinal Pham Minh Man, Archbishop ofthe Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese, the Deputy PM expressed his wish thatthe archbishop will continue setting a bright example in line with themaxim of leading a good secular and religious life and respecting Godand loving the country.
He applauded cooperation between thearchdiocese and the municipal authorities in relevant activities, sayingthe reaped fruits mirror the State’s reform efforts towards the freedomof belief and religions.
The Party and State will give moreimportance to the freedom of belief and religions, thus building ademocratic, civilised and united country, he affirmed.
Thearchbishop made a brief on the Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese’s operationover the past time, saying the archdiocese has always activelycoordinated with the local authorities to support people living indifficulties.
At the General Confederation of the EvangelicalChurches of Vietnam (South), Deputy PM Phuc congratulated it on thesuccessful organisation of the 4th General Assembly.

Earlier, on December 20, the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committeevisited and extended Christmas greetings to Christian dignitaries andfollowers.
At the meeting, Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee Le Phuoc Thanh briefed Catholics and Protestants on theprovince’s political, socio-economic, national defence and securitysituation in 2013.
He hailed the dignitaries’ contributions toencourage Catholic and Protestant followers to take part in patrioticemulation movements, raise the spirit of solidarity and engage in thelocality’s economic development, especially their efforts to overcomethe consequences of devastating natural disasters this year.-VNA
