Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem paid an official visit to Turkey from June 26-27 at the invitation of Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc.

During the visit, Deputy PM Khiem held talks with his counterpart Bulent Arinc and paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Parliament Speaker Cenap Gulpinar. He also met with Vice Mayor of Istanbul city and a group of Turkish enterprises that are doing business in Vietnam , and visited some economic and cultural establishments in the country.

At their talks, the two sides informed each other about situations of their countries and discussed ways to strengthen their friendship and multi-faceted cooperation, especially in the fields of economic and trade. They also talked about regional and international issues of mutual concern.


Deputy PM Khiem expressed his pleasure at his first Turkey visit and spoke highly of the country’s socio-economic achievements.

He asserted that Vietnam wants to develop further friendship and cooperation with Turkey and thanked the Turkish government and people for their supports to Vietnam during its process of national construction and development.

Turkish officials congratulated Vietnam for its achievements in the past struggles for independence and in current socio-economic development. They also praised Vietnam ’s position in regional and international arenas.

The two Deputy Prime Ministers pledged to raise bilateral ties to a new height for mutual benefit as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.

They also committed to accelerate the effective implementation of the agreements reached at the fourth session of the two countries’ inter-governmental committee.
