Hanoi (VNA) – Recruiting members for the Party among the young generations is an important task in Party affairs, especially in universities. The Party Committee of the bloc of universities and colleges, therefore, has paid attention to attracting outstanding students to the Party.

To be admitted to the Party, students must have good academic achievements, actively participate in social activities, show firm political ideology, and have the wish to join the Party.

Higher education institutions have created optimal conditions for students to improve themselves, thus fostering eminent human resources for the Party.

However, after graduation, many young Party members face difficulties in maintaining their Party membership, due to many reasons. Many cannot quickly find a stable job, some work in establishments where there are no Party organizations, and others frequently move their houses, so that they cannot maintain constant participation in Party activities as required by Party rules.

Do Duc Thang, Vice President of the Students’ Association of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), is a young Party member.

Recalling the first days when he took over the position as Vice President of the association, Thang said he felt overloaded and often spent sleepless nights at the office, but could not complete the tasks while still having to go to class like other students.

But those days have taught him how to arrange time, assign tasks to other association members and thus handling the work scientifically.

Diamond in gold mine

Bui Duc Hung, Permanent Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said assigning tasks to young Party members like Thang will help them to mature and improve themselves.

The university has considered developing young Party members a key task to create human resources for the Party, he said.

Only 50-70 students out of 30,000 students at the university are admitted to the Party each year, he said, adding although the rate remains modest, the school cannot lower standards for Party members.

The rate at the Hanoi Law University is 100/10,000, said Chu Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university that has set high standards for Party admission.

Apart from outstanding academic achievements and active participation in social activities, students must take part in scientific research to be admitted to the Party, he said.

Nurturing good seeds

Youth unions and students’ associations have played an important role in Party development at universities, and created an environment for Party Committees of universities to train young Party members.

Thang said the youth union work at universities remains a huge challenge as students have to take charge of both the organization and implementation of activities. The large-scale of such activities is also a challenge, because the number of students at each university would amount to tens of thousands.

Therefore, to fulfil their tasks, youth union members should proactively take part in activities, enrich their knowledge and equip themselves with different skills, he said.

“Each task helps me grow up and be more mature,” he said, adding that when assigning tasks to youth union members, it is necessary to keep a close watch on the progress and supervise the implementation process so as to timely make any adjustments when needed.”

He still remembers the joy on the day he was admitted to the Party. “It is an honour and pride of me and my family,” Thang said./.
